Sunday School is the corner stone of a church. Without Sunday School, the foundation of our church will start falling apart. Sunday school brings out young children and teachers together, so that they can learn about Jesus.
The goal of Sunday school is to "bring every child to Jesus". So that children can learn about Jesus at a very young age. As the scripture says, "Train a child in the way he is old he will not turn from it." Proverbs 22:06. And Jesus said. "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these." Mathew 19:14.
We are doing Sunday school not just because we've always had Sunday school. We want our children to have the same memories and traditions we grew up with. We think that the way we've always done it is not good enough. We do not just tell stories to children, nor relate dry history. We don't just teach catchy camp songs and train little fingers to color within the lines of pictures. We don't try to produce elaborate pegeants to showcase children before proud parents. Sunday school teachers are firmly convinced that we are mouthpieces for the living Lord God, who speaks to children and to us through the Bible lessons we share.
The Sehion Mar Thoma Church Sunday School operates under the operational guidelines of the Mar Thoma Sunday School, Diocese of North America and Europe. Sunday school is held regularly before the Holy Communian at 08:45 am, starts with songs, bible reading and prayer.
